Greater Charlotte Apartment Association to Launch Mentorship Program for Students

CHARLOTTE, NC (Mar. 29, 2018) – Today, the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association(GCAA) has announced its plans to launch a new local mentorship program for high school and college students, Helping to Build Bright Futures. This exciting opportunity was created with the student’s future portfolio in mind – and will include hands-on guidance from a member of the GCAA who is a local industry leader, and offer real day-to-day experience in the field.

Typically, the property management business can be an overlooked career path but, as communities continue to grow, this career sector is booming.  The ability for students to have exposure to such a fast-paced and lively business, and become fully immersed in it with expert guidance, is an exciting, and often rare, opportunity.

“The multi-family industry continues to grow at a rapid pace.  This growth will lead to diverse employment opportunities at every level,” commented Stephanie Hovis, Senior Director of Real Estate at Greystar.

Mentorships can range in time – with the average being about six months. At the end of the students’ journey, they can walk away with a budding resume, including references, and an extensive portfolio to help them transition to their future professional life, as they work toward graduation.

Hovis added, “Having a mentor in the multi-family industry provides and advantage to excel in a student’s current position and a vision to achieve their next career goal.”

Students interested in GCAA’s Helping to Build Bright Futures program can apply by visiting  Applications for spots in the program are reviewed by GCAA staff and mentors participating to ensure proper placement of the student.  Once applications are reviewed, students will hear back about their acceptance in the program within two weeks and will receive their start date at this time.
